Mikey Sklar started playing with electronics to make blinky clothing for Burningman. Being a open source enthusiast limited his options on microcontroller development environments. He used Linux with Microchip PIC processors and learned to program in assembly. Later he switched to Mac OS/X and soon after started using AVR microcontrollers for development. Finally he could use C as the programming language and have much better debugging tools. Today his projects have progressed into human implants, flame effects, and planet saving projects like buidling a hotel from waste materials, making grow lights out of LEDs, and a temperature monitoring system for his veggie oil car.
