Joe Stanco, a LISA stalwart, is volunteering with 4th graders in Brooklyn. "We have the kids work on two major LEGO projects. One is to build robots that play instruments and the other is to design robots for a competition to pop as many balloons as possible in 2 minutes. Besides LEGO robotics, we also do a game design class where kids use software called Scratch to create their own video games. It uses a similar modular approach where different commands can be fit together like puzzle pieces to control sprites within a game."
